Toyoda Automatic Loom Works is founded in 1926 as an industrial machine building enterprise. Later, the name changed to Toyota Industries Corporation, and in 1956 the first Toyota forklift truck produced. The Toyota fork lift trucks are for the first time in 1965 sold successfully in Europe. The result is that Toyota is going to assemble forklifts in Europe and now in Ancenis in France. In 1996, there a whole new Toyota forklift factory ready and be there for the European market new Toyota forklift trucks produced. In 2000 BT Industries lijft Toyota Industrial Equipment in and adds them to the Toyota family. This leads to the creation in 2005 of TMHE, which stands for Toyota Material Handling Europe. TMHE is the European regional organization of the Toyota Material Handling Group (TMHG), which is part of the Toyota Industries Corporation. Also in 2005, Toyota developed a fork-lift truck with a fuel cell and make it for on the CeMat. The Italian Toyota forklift factory in Bologna in 2006 obtained a certificate for the best environmental management system in its class.
